This month, I want to use this space to thank a group of individuals we don’t get to publicly thank enough, our amazing volunteers. We simply do not have the staff or the resources to put on the Chamber’s events and programs without the amazing contributions of our volunteers. The important role our volunteers play was in full evidence during our annual golf tournament and recently completed Run the Rails 5k. Whether helping sponsors set up at the tee boxes, maning registration, or being a course monitor, our volunteers were a big reason why our Chamber events have become a great success.
Volunteers play an equally important role before the event even begins. Each of our major events comes together with the assistance of a volunteer planning committee. The input and effort we get from these committees helps ensure our events are successful and continue to evolve.
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank two groups of volunteers that serve as the backbone of our organization, our Board of Directors and Ambassadors. Both groups are composed of leaders in the Saginaw community that take time out of their busy lives and careers to guide and advocate on behalf of the Chamber. Our Board and Ambassadors frequently ask, “What more can we do to help the Chamber?” What a luxury it is to have volunteers who ask a question like that and sincerely mean it!
If you are looking for ways to get more connected with the Saginaw community, volunteering to serve on our event or constituent group committees is a great way to do so. Our volunteers become networked with each other and the people who attend our events and programs. They also get to have some fun in the process. To find out how you can join our distinguished group of volunteers, give us a call and stop in and we can help find opportunities that match your strengths, interests and personal goals.
